Unlike most botanical art, this doesn't wait for approval. Three small birds, pink camellia and cherry blossoms, and a wash of soft blue sky — Hiroshige's composition is quietly confident and easy to live with.

In a room, it warms a cool wall and adds a touch of pink without turning the space sweet. The blue ground acts like a window, so even a small wall feels lighter once it goes up.

Works well above a bed, a low sideboard, or in a hallway that needs something gentle but interesting. Eye-level is fine; a touch lower above furniture also reads well.

Pair with pale oak, linen bedding, rattan, simple ceramics, and brass fittings. Chalky off-white, soft sage or warm cream walls all suit it.
