Before anyone mentions contemporary abstraction, notice what the burnt orange does to plaster. It warms a cool wall on sight and pulls the pink and lilac forward without shouting. Hang it on a chalky off-white wall in a modern living room, above a low sideboard or a boucle sofa, where afternoon light can catch the pale blue side. It sits well with warm timber, brass fittings, ceramic vases and a soft wool rug. Keep the wall around it clean — one strong piece per stretch of wall. Skip the busy patterned wallpaper and the tightly hung gallery cluster; this one needs breathing room. On canvas the painterly drips and scratchy lines read closer to a studio original.
