Against walnut, the olive-and-sand botanical reads less sweet, more deliberate. Issui's leaves and cobwebs sit against a near-black ground threaded with red, cream and gold, and they bring quiet weight rather than colour. Put it up and a room slows down. It does its best work in studies, snugs and bedrooms where the walls are already warm or chalky, and where the lamps do most of the lifting after dark. Hang it on its own at eye level above a low chest, a desk or a slim console. Pair it with aged leather, linen and a bit of brass.
