Rooms go quieter when soft pink is this sure of itself. A hand-drawn tour of Rome — the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, a couple of little Vespas — sketched in pink, mustard and coral on a cream ground.

The wall stops being beige background and starts telling a story. People look at it, then look again to find the bit they recognise.

Works well in a hallway, a kitchen nook, or beside a desk where travel photos already live. Strong enough to hold a small wall on its own.

Pair with pale oak, linen and cream ceramics. Brass hooks and a woven runner underneath sit very well with the warm tones.

Don't crowd it with other illustrated city prints — one Rome is plenty. Keep what's near it quiet.
